‘The Elephant King’ breaks record at ticket window

‘The Elephant King’ has succeeded to rake 52,244,660,000 Rials at the ticket window, breaking a new record for an animation in Iran cinema history.

The flick succeeded to gain the high-grossing record after 7 weeks of screening.

Directed by Hadi Mohammadian and produced by Iran-based Honar Pooya Group, the animation has been described as a step forward both from the view point of technique and content.

Running for 90 minutes in collaboration with a team of 150 professionals, ‘Elephant King’ has the largest number of characters among Iranian animations.

Set in Africa, the animation film narrates the story of an elephant who rules over its group like a king.

The queen bears him a son and everybody expects the son to replace his father as heir to the throne. The clumsy baby elephant, however, disappoints them all.
